It seems lately that a certain phrase keeps coming to me from many different people and in many different ways.  That phrase is “remain open to all possibilities”.  When we let ourselves be open to all possibilities wonderful things do happen.  We meet people that can help us on our journey.  We are in the right place at the right time.  We pick up a newspaper or magazine that has information that we’ve been looking for.  The song that’s been playing in our heads and we can’t figure out the artist or title comes on the radio followed by artist name and song title (this just happened to me today with Craig Walker’s “Fall”).

Being open to all possibilities is the allowing that we need to do to complete the law of attraction.  When we ask and ask and ask for what we want we must remain open to all the possible ways to receive.  What we normally do, because it’s human nature, is to look for a specific sign or special delivery and when we don’t get what we want we stop believing in universal giving and go back to believing we must do everything ourselves and nothing good ever happens.  By remaining open to all possibilities we easily receive what we ask for.

Here’s an experiment to try this week.  Pick something small that you want (it could be an object, information, small amount of money, whatever your desire is) and ask the Universe to provide it while remaining open to many possibilities on how you will receive it.  See how quickly it comes and how it comes to you.  Were you surprised?  Next ask for something a bit bigger, then something even bigger than that, and something even bigger than that, then ask for something that right now feels too out there to receive.  By practicing daily and weekly we learn to receive easily and with comfort.  We already know how to ask, we do it all the time.  Let’s make 2010 the year of receiving!

  1. Barb, thank you for these beautiful words about being open to all that the universe has to give. I think this goal of relaxing, letting go of expectations, allowing the world to unfold as it will, is such a positive, healthy idea, bringing so much peace and calm.

To be honest, the phrase that jumped out at me here was “believing in universal giving”–but that’s because I work for a nonprofit called UniversalGiving! We connect people to opportunities to give or volunteer all over the world. While I agree with you that it’s negative and defeatist to believe that we must do everything ourselves, I think there’s a positivity in believing that we can contribute to the universe’s giving…maybe through an opportunity on UniversalGiving!

Thank you again for your inspiring, thought-provoking writing!
